Children, Divorce and the Professionals That Help
I have witnessed family and friends go through divorce. What have been most difficult are the effects it has, and is, playing on their children. There may be feelings of abandonment and anger, resentment and rebellion. Most divorces are difficult for the couple, yet alone the kids.. In some states, the divorcing couples are required to go through a parenting class to help them learn how to effectively co-parent after the divorce. Unfortunately, as good the intentions are, when there is anger from one or both of the parents, the ability to co-parent is greatly diminished. So who helps these children, especially those at an age where peers are their strongest influence? Where does a parent turn to if they recognize their children need outside help but cannot afford it? Here we look at various careers that all allow you to make a difference in the lives of children and help them navigate their lives before, during and after a divorce.

Psychology Careers Highlighted on TV
There are currently three new shows on television that are bringing attention to the field of psychology. “The Mentalist”, “Lie to Me” and “Psych” follow the lead characters as they assist local and federal law enforcement agencies in solving cases. Both shows offer a glimpse into the field of psychology, introducing many new forms of technology that are being utilized in the field of psychology as well as many of the traditional applications of applied psychology in order to solve crimes. And while this is just television, the premise that psychologists can and do assist local and federal law enforcement agencies in solving crimes is very real.
